Composed of three chairs on an elevated platform, the Command Station
is located in the center of the Bridge, facing the Main Viewing Screen.
The center position is designated for the senior officer in charge of
shipboard operations. When present, the Commanding Officer will take
this position.
In the absence of the Commanding Officer, the First Officer normally
assumes these duties. When the First Officer is not on the Bridge, a
designated Officer-of-the-Deck (usually the Operations Officer) will act
in the place of the First Officer.
When both the Commanding Officer and the First Officer are on the
Bridge, the First Officer will occupy the position to the right of the
Commanding Officer’s center seat.
To the left of the Commanding Officer is a third position, which is
used by an officer or visitor at the Commanding Officer’s discretion.
