Physical Appearance: Lieutenant Stewart is quite tall and lean. He works out regularly and thus is muscular without being muscle bound. His good looks have never seemed important to him and their effect on the females around him seemingly goes unnoticed. He does date infrequently but is more serious about his work and the intricacies in the world of Intelligence gathering for Starfleet.

Personality: Laurence Stewart is quite a serious young man. He is quiet although can get verbose when speaking about his love for Starfleet or his family. His younger sister Sam is the one member of his family that he feels totally comfortable with. His father, a stern and silent man, has always strenuously objected Laurence seeking a career in Starfleet. His mother, a lovely but timid woman, keeps busy with her various women's clubs, gardening and an almost obsessive love for reading. Sam is the only one who seems to understand Laurence's need to explore, to go beyond the confines of Terra and find out about the many universes around them. They keep in touch with vids and visits whenever either gets the chance to get away from their work. Sam is a pediatrician and loves caring for the children with whom she comes in contact.

Other Pertinent Data: Laurence does enjoy hoisting a stout now and again but he keeps his celebrations to a minimum. He enjoys feeling in control and doesn't often let his guard down. Although quiet by nature, Laurence does enjoy talking with his fellow crewmembers and the people who work in Operations with him. He doesn't have a lot of friends but those he does have he holds dear. Laurence enjoys the unknown factor of his work and doesn't flinch at going on high risk missions. Perhaps because of the nature of his work, Laurence has held off from seeking to find someone to share his life with. Although Sam is constantly urging him to loosen up a bit and go out more, Laurence is quite happy with the way his life is going.

History: Laurence Anthony Stewart was born on October 15, 2286 in the small town of Wigan, Lancashire, England. His is the oldest child and thus to him fell the burden of fulfilling his father's dreams. They began to fight over this almost from the first words Laurence could speak. His love of space developed early in spite of his father's attempts to push his interests elsewhere. Edward Remington Stewart is proud of his family's history and lineage and can trace his roots back to the time of Charlemagne. This brush with nobility doesn't sit well with Laurence and he prefers to keep that part of his heritage to himself. Although his father is quite proud of his past, he does keep very closed mouth about any current family history. In fact, the Stewarts live quite an insular life in Wigan.

Laurence did well in school, graduating in the top five percent of his class at Eton. When it came time to choose a university, he resisted extreme pressure by his father to attend Oxford and instead attended Cambridge where he again graduated at the top of his class. With the world at his fingertips, Laurence almost caused a complete break with his father when he choose not to pursue a career in politics but instead applied for and was accepted by Starfleet Academy.
