Physical Appearance:
Pyrebon possesses the dominant Termusian traits of white hair
and gray eyes. He is of average build and has average strength and athletic
ability. His thin hair varies from regulation length to slightly longer as the
mood strikes him.
Pyrebon has never been the neatest and tidiest of
individuals. Sited often for the shabby condition of his quarters and unkempt
uniform while on duty, he has steadily improved his appearance thanks to the
tutelage of First Officer Stryker.
Personality:
While some might consider him to be "high-strung", those who
have invested the time necessary to properly appreciate Pyrebon have stated that
he has a warm and even philosophical nature.
Uncomfortable in social situations, he has learned the best
way to loosen-up around others is to drink precisely one pint of ginger ale
before an event. Innocuous to nearly all other species, it has a calming effect
on Termusians similar to tranquilizers.
Other Pertinent Data:
Pyrebon believes fiercely in the absolute concepts of
"freedom" and "justice". Although naturally suspicious of all governing bodies,
whether planetary or galaxy-wide, he believes that the United Federation of
Planets offers his home world the best chance for the peace and security it has
desperately been seeking after centuries of both internal and external warfare.
Pyrebon’s other great passion is acting. He has gained renown
throughout Starfleet for his powerful shipboard performances in a number of
Gylle Wodqueth’s 23rd century masterpieces including Ultima Thule,
and Lost Memories of Regula.
History:
The planet Galactus Terminus is located at the farthest limit
of Federation territory along the Romulan Neutral Zone. It existed completely
alone in a region far from any of the more densely inhabited systems. A peaceful
planet for hundreds of centuries, its fragile inner structure collapsed into
planet-wide civil war when the ruling familial Cadres abandoned the political
and economical structures that had formerly bound them together.
Galactus Terminus’ first contact with an extra-planetary
culture came in 2150 when a Romulan prospector detected the planet while
searching for new dilithium deposits. Finding none of the dilithium he hoped
would make him rich, he did discover the planet’s rich deposits of Polysilicate
Verterium (PSV), a material essential for manufacturing warp coils.
The Romulan Empire quickly conquered Galactus Terminus,
forcing an end to the Cadre wars and enslaving the populace for the mining and
processing of the vital PSV.
In 2152, Galactus Terminus was the flashpoint for the first
hostile encounter between Romulans and Humans when the USS ENTERPRISE (NX-01)
encountered a Romulan Bird-of-Prey which had heavily mined the space surrounding
the planet. This was a common practice of the Romulans designed to protect its
vitally strategic possessions. The ENTERPRISE narrowly averted destruction and
the confrontation resulted in increased tensions between the two races.
During the Romulan Star Empire/Coalition of Planets war of
2155-2160, the planet changed hands between factions on no less than twenty six
occasions. By this time, however, the majority of the planet’s valuable
resources had been depleted by both war efforts, leaving it virtually worthless
to the combatants. In the resulting peace treaty of 2162, which defined the
Romulan Neutral Zone, possession of Galactus Terminus was officially turned over
to the newly-formed United Federation of Planets.
When the final Romulan occupation forces left the planet in
2165, the Federation liberated the inhabitants, while also restoring an elected
planetary government based on the old Cadre systems that had once sustained the
planet.
Pyrebon was born in the Ergra Cadre Province in 2291. His
parents, Tanon and Vireya, had worked nearly their entire lives for the Ergra
Agricultural Collective in one of its countless grain processing stations. An
accidental explosion in 2311 instantly killed Vireya and severely disabled Tanon.
Pyrebon had been attending the prominent Gondon Military
Academy when news reached him of the fates of his parents. He immediately left
his studies to take care of his recuperating father. Sadly, after nearly a year
of agonizingly painful therapy, Pyrebon’s father Tanon took his own life.
Pyrebon immediately applied to Starfleet Academy where he
went on to tackle a grueling course track that prepared him to serve in nearly
any capacity aboard a Federation starship. He is exceptionally knowledgeable
about stellar phenomenon and the myriad planetary governments within the
Federation.
Pyrebon was originally assigned to the USS CHERON as
navigator, serving for the duration of the ship’s assigned seven-year mission.
Upon the CHERON’S return, Pyrebon learned of the helmsman position opening
aboard the USS PHOENIX. He eagerly volunteered to serve aboard the Third Fleet
flagship, under the command of Captain T.E. Lawrence, a starship commander he
had long admired and respected.
