History: Dylan Sullien was born May 29, 2281 to loving parents Riordan and Merlyn MacInis. He was the apple of his father’s eye. Riordan’s duties kept him away a lot, but he spent every moment he could with his son. Little did Riordan know he had such a short time to watch Dylan grow. In 2284, an Orion assassin in a riot killed Riordan MacInis during a Babel Conference where he was acting mediator. Merlyn took the death of her husband very hard and decided to retire. Riordan had provided for his family well so she was able to turn all of her attention to Dylan.

Liam MacInis, Riordan’s brother and monarch of the MacInis family, tried to talk Merlyn into moving to his estate on Earth. Secretly Merlyn had always found her brother-in-law too over powering and a bit overbearing. She politely refused his offer, but did take Dylan for a visit to Edinburgh.

In 2287 Merlyn met Dr. Sinjun at a friend’s dinner party. The Vulcan was widowed with a young daughter, T’lan. The two began to see each other and eventually fell in love. After six months Merlyn moved in with Sinjun. At that time she found out that she was two months pregnant. Sinjun wanted to marry her right away, but she refused. She just wasn’t ready yet. Liam MacInis was enraged when he heard the news. He made a visit to see Merlyn and caused an ugly scene. In fact, Sinjun asked him to leave his home when Liam upset his lover.

The two lived quietly with their children and planned to marry shortly before the baby’s birth. Sinjun was the main speaker at a medical conference when he received word that Merlyn had gone into premature labor. By the time he reached the hospital, Merlyn had died and he had a daughter who may not live. Heart broken he had to face Dylan and tell him his beloved mother was gone.

The baby lived, but Dylan was yanked out of Sinjun’s care when Liam MacInis swooped in and removed the boy. Dylan was going on seven years old and had become distant, lonely and angry. He missed his mother and now he couldn’t even see Sinjun, T’lan and his new baby sister, T’Amsyn.

Liam loved his nephew and made sure that he attended the best schools and met the "right" people. Although their relationship was strained, Dylan grew to return his uncle’s love.

In the fall of 2299, Dylan entered the University of Edinburgh to study medicine. For a few years he had secretly made contact with T’lan to get information on his half-sister and Sinjun. He hoped to see them in the future. It was during this time that through T’lan’s tales of her classes at Starfleet Academy, Dylan decided to make a change in his career. He would join Starfleet and secure his medical career there. Liam was furious and when Dylan left for the Academy, the two parted in anger.

After Dylan completed his studies at Starfleet Academy, his first assignment was working on a special project with the Vulcan Science Academy.

In 2306, Dylan served aboard his first starship. During this time he took the tests for rank promotions and received his lieutenant jg bars. Dylan served aboard the USS SAGAN until 2310. He then served aboard the USS CONCORD as a Physician. In his spare time, Dylan continued his studies into new medical techniques.

With new lieutenant bars, Dylan beamed aboard the USS PHOENIX as the starship’s new senior physician. His goal was to one day become a Chief Medical Officer.
